What should I wear?
I am by no means a fashion expert. If you know me, you know that I live in jeans, hoodies and a good t-shirt. But, I do know what works well in a photo.
When you invest in photos with me, I will work really hard to style you and your family in a way that makes everyone feel good. I also am a bargain shopper, so I do my best to keep a budget in mind too!
My first tip is to elevate your style. If you typically wear jeans and t-shirts, elevate it. Wear a nice sweater or a flattering dress.
Dress mom first, or if you have a super picky dresser, dress them first and then plan around that. Color pallets are super helpful for planning colors that go together.
I love patterns, but stick to one or two and never more than one bold print.
I also love color. But will advise against really bright neon colors. They never photograph well.
I love helping to style sessions. It has become one of my favorite parts of planning our session. I want to make it as easy as possible for you. I will send you some style inspiration photos, and first, I always recommend looking through your closet to see if you have something that works. Then you should use the shopping links I send!
Movement.
I love photographing dresses that have movement. They photograph so beautifully and they are also really fun to wear. Twirling and walking are always favorite moves during a session, and when a dress moves, it makes a really pretty photo!
Kimonos or duster cardigans are a fun non dress way to add it too!
Texture.
Mom has this great chunky knit sweater. Daughters cape is this soft velvety texture with a fur collar. Dad had a thin corduroy shirt. All of their clothes worked great for the chilly fall weather. The youngest daughter had thick ribbed tights.
They add a great visual interest to this photo.
Layers.
Photos in Colorado, often mean unpredictable weather. Planning for layers is perfect especially if you want photos in the fall.
Jean jackets, moto jackets, sweaters, and dusters are perfect for photos. They add interest to the photo because you are looking at layers. They can also be a fun way to add a pop of color. They can also tone down a bold print too.
Favorite places to shop:
Joyfolie for dresses for mom and girls. From my daughter: They're good twirlers.

*I did not include tips for seniors, because all the seniors that I photograph dress way better than I do! But I'm always happy to share my opinion.
